An easy one for this week. Here are a few:

Food!

I made Mexican food the other night and my camera was in the Kitchen, so I took a picture inside the cheese grater. Ron gave us a big ol' box of Christmas cookies and they were pretty and yummy.

Weekly Theme

Okay, I haven't really had time to think about it till just now so...... this week's theme is....... FOOD. Take a picture of food or something. I don't know; be creative (or not).

Picture of Molly

I took a few cute pictures of Molly and was bored yesterday, so I was playing on Photoshop. Here's what happened:

Weekly Theme: Water

Okay here's a picture I took last night. I know it's similar to Janae's, (not as fancy) but I kinda like it:

And here are two from this Summer. The first is the aftereffects of a sprinkler, the second is just cute.

Christmas Cards

I know it's only December 8th, but I'm a little irritated that we've only gotten one Christmas card so far. All of mine have been sent (except for those people that I don't have addresses for). I look forward to getting the mail everyday, because there's not much else going on around here, but especially since December 1st because I have started expecting Christmas cards and so far I've been totally disappointed. Another reason I look forward to getting them is because I have a spreadsheet of who I sent them to and who I've recieved them from. I like checking names off my list. If some one sends me a card and I didn't send them one for some reason, i will then add their name to the list and send out a card. It's a very simple system but I'm bummed that i haven't had a reason to open up my Christmas card spreadsheet.
**for those of you that don't usually send Christmas cards, I ain't mad atcha; but for those of you that do, you better get on the ball!

Crappy sunlight pictures

I took this to see the sunlight come through the butterfly. Not the best picture, but a good idea. This one was meant to show the shadows of the tree branches. Also, not the best picture, but I didn't want to go outside to take a better picture.

7 things about me because I've been "tagged"

1. I love "The Nutcracker." (The ballet, get your head out of the gutter Emily). Ovation TV has a "Nutcracker Grudge Match" going on right now and I'm recording all 7 versions of it so I can watch it whenever I want.
2. I hate staying up late and waking up late. If I'm awake past 1:00am, or still asleep past 9:00am I kinda freak out.
3. Large pieces of broken glass give me the willies.
4. At least once a week I think about what would happen if a burgler/killer broke in while Scott was gone and we were all sleeping. I'm constantly trying to figure out how to jump out of a bedroom window with both girls in my arms without breaking any bones.
5. I will do everything in my power to figure out what I'm getting for Christmas before Christmas morning. I've unwrapped at least one of my presents every year since I was about 10.
6. I have no desire to travel. In fact, going to a foreign country where they don't speak English freaks me out; I assume I will be thrown into prison never to be released (thank you "Brokedown Palace").
7. I feel retarded everytime I have to say "I love you" to someone other than Scott or the girls. I do love a lot of people (many of you reading this), but its a rare occasion that I am willing to say it to them (even my mom). Don't judge me!

Since almost everyone I know that will read this has already been "tagged," the only ones I have left to tag are Emily and Liz. I think this means that you have to post seven things about yourself and "tag" seven other people to do the same (if you want to, I'm really not going to hold you to it)

Facebook

I just joined Facebook yesterday. I think I hate it. I was on Myspace for a while and finally deleted my profile because it was getting pointless and rediculous. I think I feel the same about Facebook. I've already had two or three people that I'm not really friends with make me their friends on it. I don't really want to be updated everytime they comment on someone else's picture or whatever. I joined it to snoop on people that I haven't kept in contact with from highschool, but there's no information on there and you have to be their friend to even get that little bit of info. I'll give it a few days or a week and then probably delete that profile too. If there is a good reason to stay on Facebook, please let me know what it is.

More Projects!!

So, I think it was last year, shortly before Christmas that I started making a quilt so that we could have a festive blanket in the living room around Christmas. I made the quilt top, no problem. But then I had to actually quilt it and I got bored with it and abandoned the project. Well, about a year later I have finally finished it and here it is!
As you may recall from an earlier post, I had extra fabric so I mad a wreath:
I had some squares that I made while making the quilt that I didn't use for the quilt so I decided to make this ornament yesterday. I even stuffed it with unusable fabric scraps (How green am I?!). Look Out, Christmas!

Minotaurs and Llamas

I think Allyson is pretty smart. For example a car commercial came on the other day with a unicorn, fairy, and minotaur in it. Allyson pointed and said "Minotaur." I told her that 1/2 of daddy's students didn't know that and she told Scott that he needed to tell his students about minotaurs.
Here are a few more Allysonisms:
Yesterday I came in the living room and Nola was crying. Allyson said, "Sorry, I ABSOLUTELY hit her in the head." I laughed
You "Take for a ride" in the car or on daddy's back
You have to be careful of the llamas (lava) when playing Zelda with daddy
Medicine, kisses and food "Feels me better"
Not to be outdone, Nola said "Pip, please." So I got out a chip. I asked her what it was called then I asked her her uncle's name. Her answers were "Pip" and "Pip" (Kip). I asked her what the difference was and she just stared at me, so I gave her the chip.

Color

This is an old photo (from when we went to Pumpkinland). It's pretty full of Fall color, I think. I'm feeling pretty lazy so I decided to post an old photo, but since we have the rest of the week there's a chance I will become unlazy and take another picture for the theme. We'll see.

Weekly Theme: Color

This weeks' theme is coming early, since we accidentally skiped a week because I'm dumb. So we have time to get a good picture...no excuses.
I figured we needed some bright colorful pictures since everything is so dreary and blah outside.

Gift Bag

So Janae made a blanket for Nerin's baby-to-be and asked me to make a gift bag to put it in. Janae picked out the fabric (from my stash) and I made it today. I'm pretty proud of it since I didn't have a pattern. It actually has a lining and two pockets! She can use it as a bag for whatever after Janae gives it to her.

I made a dress today

I made a dress today! I had this really ugly quilt top that I got from my aunt (stuff from her mother-in-law) and a pattern for a little girl dress that I bought on Etsy a while ago (from the 70s). I decided that the quilt was too ugly to be quilt, but cute enough to be a 70s-style dress for Allyson. So I made it today and aside from a few mistakes, I think I did an okay job. I have enough to make another one if anybody (Nola) wants one.

Self Portrait #2

Well, after three days of messing around with PhotoShop I kinda gave up but I ended up with something not too PhotoShop-y, but I think if I spent more time I could do what meant to do. But I think you get the gist of what I was trying to do.

WeeklyTheme: Self Portrait

Here's my first self portrait. I will be posting at least one more this week because I'm fascinated with Photoshop. But here's my first one.

Pretty

I took these pictures and then I messed with them in PhotoShop.
I think they're pretty.

Weekly Theme: Freedom

Well, I didn't go the typical route. Actually I took some pictures and then kinda forgot about it, but I figured I should get something in before the end of the week. So, I gave Allyson the freedom to get herself dressed. She chose one of our Cardinal's shirts and decided to wear it backwards. She had fun with it.

Chaos

Here are my submissions for this weeks' theme. The first one is a bunch of scraps from various projects that I'm saving to make a scrap quilt. The second one is the parking lot taken from the balcony at Windows off Washington with my camera on the wrong setting. The third one is one of the book shelves in my sewing room. It used to just have books on it but it's slowly filling up with random crap. I'll let everyone else decide which picture is more chaotic.

bookmark

I have a lot of extra fabric so I've been trying to find uses for it all. One idea I had was making bookmarks. Here's my first attempt. It's a little too thick because I put batting in the middle, but I think fabric bookmarks are a good idea. Maybe I'll start a multimillion dollar business (some day).

Weekly Theme

It is my turn, right? This week's theme is CHAOS. I am inspired by the last few hours I've spent trying to clean up my sewing room at the same time trying to make a Halloween costume. I'm feeling very chaotic. I don't know if this is a good theme for a photo; if it seems to hard, let me know and I can pick a different theme.

Weekly Theme: Still Life

My still life pictures come from a wedding I went to this weekend. This first photo was taken on the wrong setting, but I think it looks cool. Maybe not so still. This one is more of a still life.
This was the centerpiece at the wedding. Not too exciting, but I was determined to turn it into some kind of interesting picture; this was the best I could do. I don't know if it's technically still life since the fire (and water, I guess) move. Whatever

My night of hourly appointments

Last night sucked! I went to bed at 9:00. I was up twice before 10:00. Then Scott got up with Molly at 11:30. Then I was up again at 12:30, 1:45, 3:15, 4:45 and then woke up for the morning at 6:15. So it wasn't hourly apointments, but if you figure that I was up between 15 and 45 minutes each time I got up you should totally feel sorry for me! If you don't, I hate you.

Pumpkinland!

The McFarlands and the Maues went on a trip to PUMPKINLAND today and it was Awesome! Here are a few pictures from our outing. I'm sure Janae will have a similar post soon, but there will be different, and probably better, pictures. So much Hay! This was like a sandbox, but filled with and made out of hay

Allyson and Nola riding on the pumpkin horse.

Scott, Allyson, and a lot of gourds. They have the same smile!

Nola was diggin' the candied apple!

Everybody should go to Pumpkinland!!

Good Bye Tuperware Bed

Last night was the first night Molly slept in her own room in an actual bed (crib) instead of a big tupperware box. She's starting to get a little too long for the box. It will be sad to see the tupperware go, but it will be nice to have her in her own room. plus, I need the box for storage for Allyson's clothes. So I guess we all win.
Yesterday was also Molly's 3 week birthday. Strange how three weeks seems like forever! Especially since the first four days were spent in the hospital. Well, that's all for now.

Weekly theme: Comfort

Nothing like sucking your thumb with your favorite stuffed animal under a blanket! (If you're 3 years old)
I also included this picture of Molly because she looks pretty comfortable. She is, in fact, totally uncomfortable because she hasn't pooped in over 24 hours. She's cute anyway!

What up

Nothing. That's what up. Molly is two weeks old today and I am now able to drive. For the past two weeks I have been home-bound, unless some one was driving me. For the past few days Scott has been kinda busy with work stuff and not really home. This, unfortunately, coinsided with the Maue household running out of toilet paper, milk, juice, and deodorant (and we were getting dangerously low on diapers). None of this really affected Scott since he wasn't really home except to sleep, so he wasn't too concerned. I, on the other hand was sick of using paper towels in the bathroom, feeding Kool-aid and orange juice to Allyson, and having stinky armpits.

So, today was glorious! I drove my stinky self to Walgreens and spent more there today than I ever have at Walgreens at one time: $53.00.

Here's a picture of Molly on her two week birthday, still sleeping in her tuperware bed:

Weekly Theme: Fire

Here are two photos. I like the second one better as far as it dealing with the theme of the week. The first one I just think looks nice. I like my black votive holders.

This week's photo theme is FIRE!!! Go to town.

Weekly Theme: Coffee

For those of you that read this and don't know what's going on: a few of us are posting weekly photos with a theme. Go here to get the full story: http://acupofblackandwhite.blogspot.com/2008/09/weekly-theme-1.html

I don't have a fancy camera, but here is my coffee photo. I like my old-timey coffee container.

Baby

Well, it turns out having a baby was a bigger deal than Survivor. Don't get me wrong, Survivor was pretty good and I will continue watching and loving it, but Molly is way cooler. I'm still in the hospital, so it's been super easy with all the nurse help. I'll probably go home tomorrow, then the real fun begins. By the way, if any of you plan on having a baby, don't keep the baby in your room overnight, not just for your sleeping benefit, but for your neighbors as well. The person next to me kept her baby and it kept waking me up with all the crying. I think that's kinda rude. Well, that's it for now; my breakfast is here.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Guess what

Hey, everybody, I'm going to have a baby tomorrow! Also, Survivor is on tomorrow at 7:00. If you want to call me and talk about my new baby, don't call between 7:00 and 9:00. I'll be watching Survivor (and doing baby stuff). It's going to be a big day!!!

Christmas Wreath

I saw a picture of a country looking wreath in a magazine (Country Living) that was really cute. Janae told me I should make one, so I did. I am in the process of making a Christmas quilt and the fabric I used for the wreath was some of the scraps from the quilt. I'm not going to put up a picture of the quilt till it's done (God knows when that will be). But here's the wreath. It's supposed to be kinda scrappy.

Freedom!

I no longer have a job and it is awesome! It's been four days being at home and I've been doing dishes and laundry and coloring and sweeping. I was going to clean the windows, but we ran out of Windex. I will be grocery shopping today. I know all this bliss will come crashing in on me in less than two weeks when I have the baby and everything gets thrown off. For now the house is kinda clean and I can take a nap when Allyson does. The picture shows how we spend our mornings (instead of driving an hour and a half to the baby sitter then to work).

T-Shirt Bag

I made a T-Shirt bag. It wasn't actually a T-Shirt; it was a long-sleeve, V-neck shirt with embroidered flowers on it that I bought at Wal-Mart a few years ago. It shrunk a little so it was kinda short-waisted so it looked funny on me; plus it was a bit out of style. But it makes a cute bag! It's the first reusable bag I've completed; I plan on making more (not necessarily from shirts). I think I did an okay job. Now I think I need to go shopping.

August Sucks

So there is way too much stuff going on this August and i don't want to deal with any of it. So far, we've had our 4 year anniversary, Scott's birthday, Kirk's birthday, and Logan's birth. Next we have Allyson's birthday party and then her birthday (I'm leaving out some birthdays and other events because I'm too tired to remember them all). I'm too pregnant to have to think about that many things within one month.
Plus my job doesn't help. I work with a bunch of retards. Mainly it's just one (not to be named since this is the internet) who is a pain in my ass (I'm not talking about Emily, seriously) and doesn't know how to do her job so i have to do it for her. I litterally have to be on my feet all day running back and forth because of her; not good for a 8.5 month preggo! So because my job makes me so exhausted I want to come home and do nothing. But I can't do nothing in August! There's too much going on!
Sorry to all those people who had birthdays and babies and whatnot that I've neglected. I think maybe next year I'll plan ahead and buy birthday presents in June and plan parties in July.

Christmas in July!

I finally finished Molly's stocking! I don't know if anybody really pays attention, but that was top on my list of things to get done. Now I can cross that off and move on to the next thing.

This thing took so long to make! It was less than a year, which was how long it took me to make Allyson's. Of course it's not perfect, but none of the other ones I've made are either. I do think it looks pretty good in the picture; after looking at it close up for months I was begining to wonder how it was going to turn out.

Hopefully this is the last stocking I have to make! Maybe some day I'll decide that neices and nephews need one of their own and make more... but usually by the middle of making them I start to get annoyed at them. We'll see.

Yay! It's finally done! Merry Christmas!

Nothing

I've been meaning to write something for a few weeks now, but I haven't been able to think of a subject. I still can't think of one but I figured if I started typing something would happen.
So here's what I've thought about since I started writing:
Two months from Friday I will have a baby. That's when I've scheduled my C-section. I really hope I don't go into labor before that time. I don't ever want to experience full on labor and I don't want my water to break anywhere that I (or some one I know)would have to clean it up. Gross. Do they break your water if you have a C-Section? Hmmm...
Well, crap. I'm stumped for something else to write about right now. At least you got that much out of me. Till next time!

Poo Poo!!!

We bought a doll house for Allyson but told her she couldn't play with it till she went poo poo in the potty (we aretrying to potty train). So I got home today from work and I see the doll house on the floor of the living room... she poopooed! I told Scott he should have taken a picture of it so I could see it (I know that's gross and if he actually had I would have thought he was gross). She's taking a nap so I can't get all crazy excited about it, but it's pretty awesome if you know Allyson. We've been trying to potty train without a real plan for a little while and she's really off and on about it. She does really good for Scott but when he's not around she'll pee on whatever she's sitting or standing on (floor, couch, me); she doesn't care. I made a potty chart yesterday with stickers and toys as insentives... hopefully that will work for me. We shall see!

Molly's middle name

So I had a poll up for voting for the new baby's middle name and apparently it wouldn't allow you to vote. I tried to make a new one and same problems. SO, I'll do it this way. I'm not really sure why I'm even doing it; so far, as far as I can tell, only two people are reading this and I think I know your opinions already... But anyway... Her first name is Molly. We are still deciding on a middle name. It will either be Ann (My mom's first name, and grandmother's middle name) or Louise (Scott's grandmother's name and my other grandmother's middle name). So what do you think?

Something I recently made

So a few days ago I had a cup of coffee in the middle of the day so I was up past 10:00! I was looking around the internet and got an idea to make a dress for Allyson out of a pillowcase. There are a few mistakes and it's way to big because she was sleeping and I couldn't get measurements, but I think it's cute. Not bad for an hours work at 10:00 at night. I'll either fix it so it can fit her now or just keep it till it fits her (maybe in a year or two). I think I'll be buying more pillowcases to make dresses for the little girls I know.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

hey I have a blog...

Now what?
I figured I could do this since Scott is now gone all the time and there's nothing on TV. At least it will occupy my time for a little while. We'll see.
