Me Oh My Miss Molly

Molly is barely three years old and has been to more doctors than Scott has been to in his whole life (disregard the fact that his crazy family never goes to the doctor).
To vent my frustration I shall make a list (an excel spreadsheet would do nicely here, but it's a bit unnecessary)

It all started before she was even born...
1.  At my ultrasoud to find out her gender the stupid tech thought she saw a hole in Molly's heart so I had to get an EKG on my belly.  They saw nothing but I still had to bring her back when she was 2 weeks old.  NOT easy to do an EKG on a newborn.

2. I'm going to count her Pediatrition here because shots suck!

3.  When she was 17 months old we discovered the DIABETES!  So we were in the hospital for a week.  Hospitals are not condusive for naps so we lost those.  I miss nap time.

4.  Now we have an Endocrinologist that we get to go to every 3-4 months

5.  She also has to get her blood drawn once or twice a year... doesn't sound so bad but when you're a three-year-old used to teensy weensy needles the ones they take your blood with are GIANT and SCARY!

6.  The Beetus also messes with your eyes, so Mollys been to the eye doctor twice (remember, she just turned 3)

7.  She's also been to the dentist... that's just good hygene

8.  At her 2 yr and 3 yr checkups she failed the hearing test so we got to go to an Audiologist.  She failed that test too!  Hearing loss, they said, that can be corrected with medication or surgery.

9.  Because of the damn audiology test we went to an ENT who is making her come back in a month to see if the fluid behind her ear drums clears itself out.  If not,  who knows!  Maybe surgery (by this I mean tubes in her ears, which I had done when I was 4 also).

Molly is scared of needles, hospitals and (for some reason) male doctors.... she's only had one male doctor and we just met him today.  Most of her appointments have been in the hospital, so I think she's lying about the hospital thing (or she just doesn't want to spend the night there),  And the needle thing is just silly.  After getting at least 4 shots a day I think she is just a drama queen.   ... As if she's not getting enough attention!

Allyson will get her turn when it's time for braces... her only problem is thumb sucking.  (and I would bet my life that they will both be wearing glasses by middle school)
Both my girls are awesome and I love them... but I'm starting to hate their doctors!

First day of School... a few Days ago

Maybe I'll remember next year when school is approaching to check the battery in my camera.  I didn't do that this year.  The three pictures I got weren't that great, but at least the moment was documented:

Yep, I made that dress.

Kindergarten!

Allyson starts Kindergarten tomorrow!  Holy crap!  She's super excited, but I know once we walk in the doors she's going to clam up.  At the Open House yesterday the librarian tried talking to her and she stared at her like she was the devil.
She said what she's looking forward to the most is Lunch.

I couldn't sleep last night thinking about taking her to school.  I think it's going to suck tomorrow for about an hour then life is going to be sweet.  But untill then I'll stress and worry.

W I P Wedensday #7

Finished:
(and sold)
A set of owls!  I think they barely pass as owls.  They were supposed to be bookends, but they aren't that heavy and one likes to lie down more than stand up.

Started and Finished::
Here's skirt and leggings (not meant to go together) for Allyson

I cut up a t-shirt and made some jammie pants for Molly.  They are a little bit low-rise, but that's fine for jammies (I guess).

This is a cute little jumper for Molly.  It's corduroy and lined and has a zipper and pleats and everything!  I'm super impressed with myself on this one.

I was forced to make a bag for my quilt in progress.  Scott was sick of it just being thrown on the couch.  So now it's in a cute bag!

What!? That's so many things!  ...Oh, yeah, I skipped a week.

Still Going or Projects in Pergatory (or maybe Limbo):
Zelda Quilt
Scrppy Squares Quilt
One last set of owls

I haven't put these away, but they just aren't on the top of the list for now.  I'm doing a lot of clothes sewing for the girls so we can be ready for school days.  I'm wondering how homemade clothes will go over in Kindergarten...  maybe nobody will know!

Started:

This dress is SO close to being finished... it's just really hard to get Allyson to try things on for fit.  This might be the first day of Kindergarten dress.

This will be that shirt for Allyson.  Those are the last scraps of that material.  Not too bad:  I got two shirts and a skirt out of it and the two fabrics cost me a total of $4!

Ch Ch Ch Changin'

I feel the need to have a post here that isn't titled WIP, so here it is!  I'm pretty sure no sewing projects will creep they're way into this post.
Last Thursday Scott and I started talking about redoing the kitchen sometime soon.  Before we do that we would need to refinish the living room floor.  Before doing that we wanted to rip up the carpet in the bedroom so that we could redo the wood in that room at the same time.  So we talked a bit about it then ripped up the carpet in the bedroom.

So it turns out that the wood was crap.  We now have three different colors of fake wood floors in our house (shh, don't tell any one).  After taking all the furniture out we decided to rearrange the bedroom.  Some day when we grow up we will get real bedroom furniture... maybe even a headboard!

Sometime during all this redoing I went to the Zoo with Janae, the kids, and Evi.  Scott did the floors and I did the Zoo!

So, after changing up one room we had to do more:

The red velvet couch went into the toy room.  The desk lost it's legs and became a coffee table.  The glider ended up in our room.  All of this will continue to change.... forever and ever.

After all this, the kitchen got a new table cloth, thanks to my mom, and the two red retro chairs... I'm eventually going for a retro-esque theme in the kitchen to show off my mismatched Fiestaware collection that will continue to grow.   ...Maybe not retro; just lots of white so the bright colors POP! POP!

Because of all this I've realized I need new curtains (or other window coverings) in just about every room in the house... perhaps that's a sewing project for the future!

WIP Wednesday # 6

I'm too tired to explain too much so we'll have mostly pictures here:

Finished:

An Owl!  Miracle upon miracles... now I just need Janae's pictures of him so I can put him on Etsy... not that he'll sell but that's okay.

Still in Progress:

Everything else... I think I touched everything I'm working on at least once this week.

Two of these guys are going to be book ends and the other is 1/2 of a pair that will probably be book ends as well...

Proof that I really have been working on the Zelda quilt.

New:

Another part of Allyson's school wardrobe.  This is going to be a peasant shirt for her.

Wip Wednesday #5

It seems all I'm doing is these WIP blogs... but at least it's something for you to read for a minute or two at work.  I totally can't wait till Fall so I've decided to make Allyson's back to school clothes... I also have an idea to make a Halloween dress, but that's for some other day (before October).
Moving on...
Finished:
The annoying cross stitched veggies!! Finaly!  Now I don't know what to do with them.  I don't want them.  If you want them, let me know and they are yours for FREE!

I also started and finished this needle book.  I have lost all but two of my needles so I needed one badly.  I totally forgot to put a closure on it so that was kind of an afterthought and not so pretty... but it works!

These pants are the first of Allyson's Back-to-School wardrobe.  I got some really cheap ribbed knits at work (Joann) so her color scheme is going to be "Berries and Cream."  I have planned two pairs of leggings, shorts, pants, two shirts, and a dress.

Still going:

Lost in Space:

New:
the pants from above
the needle book from above
One of Allyson's School shirts (mentioned above)

Recap:
Last Week's total: 6
Finished:               3
New:                    3
This Week's total: 5 (I think there are two owls... I'll get on those soon so I can get them off this list)

Wip #4

Finished:

Mystery project... a handmade chenille blanket.  I think it turned out super cute; maybe not super chenille-y looking, but I think that will improve with more washing and drying.  It's a gift for somebody, but I'm not saying who... it's a surprise!

Molly was in need of pajamas so I made her a night gown.  It looks more like a moomoo, but it's comfy and cute.  She likes it, despite her look of sadness in the picture
.

Still Going:

I've actually been working on the cross stitched Artichoke.  I'm not sure why, though.  I'm not going to do anything with it when I'm done.  I think I just feel the need to finish it since I started it.  If anybody wants these cross stitched veggies, let me know and they are yours... for FREE!

The Zelda Pool Table Cover is still going... I think I'm close to putting the top together... then comes the quilting. sigh

Needs Attention:

Scrappy quilt
Owls

New:

I think the only thing new this week was Molly's Jammies.  And they were also finished, so Yay!

Busy Busy Busy, Lazy

Saturday, my good friend Emily got married and I was in the wedding, so I was super busy with wedding-y things.  Friday I ate at my first cupcake bar.  Good cupcake, average quesadilla.  I guess I should have known that Mexican wasn't their strong suit.  I also got my first ever Mani-Pedi.  I was worried I would be judged on my gross feet (perhaps I was, but I don't speak whatever language the salon ladies spoke, so no worries there).  My toes are BEAUTIFUL!
The wedding was really nice and fun and I didn't have a hangover!  My camera was not with me the whole time, then it died.  Here are a few of the few I got:

Emily, fighting the wind.

Mike and Emily with the creepy photographer and fancy bear.

Bridesmaid bouquet... pretty
So, I've been lazy as far as projects go, so no Wip Wednesday for me today... I'm lucky I even got on the computer.  Enough for now.  sleepy....

Wip Wednesday #3

New This Week:

I actually started my Mystery project.  Not much to take pictures of there, so maybe if I finishe it this week there will be pictures to come.
also...
I'm a messy coffee drinker while at the computer.  Lots of coffee stains on the computer dest.  Problem solved:  Mug Rug.  If you don't know what a "mug rug" is, from what I've gathered from other crafty ladies, it's just a giant coaster.  So I made one for myself.
The underneath part

the top, and my coffee!

Still Working On:

Everything else!
Actually the only thing I worked on that wasn't new was the crazy quilt... just sittin' and quiltin'.  It's a slow process.

Finished This Week:

All I finished was the "mug rug."  But I am diligently (sp?) working on the other stuff too!

Wip Wednesday #2

Two weeks in a row!  Look at me with the follow through... anyway...
Technically I didn't really add or take away from last weeks list, but I sorta-kinda did.

New this week (but also finished this week):

Scott got me a Kindle for my birthday so I needed a cover.  I made this one really quick without really measuring or using any kind of pattern.  It's kinda cute, but it's more like a rough draft.  I will have to make a better one some time soon.

Almost a work in progress:

I saw a project on someone elses blog and I'm going to start it soon using these fabrics... I'm not saying what it is... Mystery!!

Still Working on:

I've made progress on the Zelda quilt, but it's not very exciting. I'll take a picture when the top is put together.

The scrappy quilt (aka Whackadoo... I need a better name for this) is coming along.  I made the back with random squares of scrapps and black strips.  This is the first quilt back I've made that isn't just solid; I kinda like it.  So, it's put together and I've started quilting it.  Now we wait the year or to it takes me to do this and we have a finished quilt!  Hopefully it won't really take that long... I don't plan on doing anything too fancy.

Untouched:

The sweater owls and cross stitched veggies will have to wait for another week...

Prebirthday Party

Last night at my mom's house we had dinner to celebrate my birthday and I got awsome gifts.  My mom got me two shirts, a gift card to Kohls, some tiny little weights so I can work out my not so tiny arms, and a pair of shorts.  I don't remember the last time I owned shorts that weren't cut from pants.  Not only am I going to have to tan up my thighs, I'm going to have to get back in the practice of shaving above my knees!  It's just too hot not to wear shorts anymore.  Watch out world, here come my legs!

I also got three homemade cards from Nola and one from Janae.  And Janae got me a basil plant (three actually, in one pot) and a return address stamp that I have SO been wanting from Etsy.com .  I can't wait to send letters or invitations or whatever.  I actually had a dream about what kind of ink pad I'm going to buy for it.  It my dream it was a deep red.  I don't think I'll do that in real life.  Who knew I could be so excited about a stamp!

Also, because of the thunderstorm last night this happened:
So cute!

WiP Wednesday #1

I'm stealing this from another blog I follow.  It means Works in progress and I'm hoping it will keep me focused on what I'm working on and not randomly starting things that won't get finished.  Also, here's hopoing I'll post this every Wednesday (it might turn into a monthly instead of weekly thing).  So anyway here goes:

I told Scott I was going to call this quilt Whakadoo... I don't know if that name will stick!  It's a bunch of scraps sewn together then cut up then sewn back together a billion times.  I had multiple plans for these scraps before I put them together in this quilt (which is almost put together).  The white parts are a full size sheet that I used part of for something else then used the rest for this.  I don't know how big this will be, maybe lap-size or maybe bigger if I decide to put a border or two around it.  We'll see

This is Scott's Zelda quilt/pool table cover.  We have finished heart containers, Link, and Zelda.  I still need to do the Triforce (don't ask, it's video game BS) which I've done twice now, but with crappy fabric so it looked crappy.  Hopefully that will get done soon and I can put this mess together.

Here is a cross stitched Artichoke I started maybe 8 years ago.  I feel the need to finish it but I don't know what to do with it when it's done.  If you want it, along with a cross stitched eggplant, let me know.

Sweater Owls!  There are 3 of them... These are on the list because I cut them out a while ago so I also feel the need to finish them.  I'm sure it will happen soon.

so to recap:
last weeks total: n/a
finished this week: 0
New this week: 0
This week's total: 6

... see you next week!

Things and Whatnot

I haven't written a blog in a while and I have a bit of time so here goes...  I'm sick and kinda feel sleepy drunk because of that so my appologies if this makes no sense.
I've been systematically watching Supernatural from the begining of the first season for a while now.  I finally got kinda caught up.  I just watched the first episode of season 6 (the current season) so I can catch up this summer and be ready for next season.  Of Sam and Dean, I think Dean is more attractive.
Scotts on Summer break now.  He says he's going to fix some things around the house.  Maybe we won't have a hole in our kitchen ceiling come September.
I made a quilt for my friend Emily's wedding present.  I took a picture while trying to figure out the layout and it turns out that's the only picture I have of it:
Oh well.  I think it was a pretty cool quilt except I machine quilted the middle part and I'm not so good at that.  But if I had hand quilted the entire thing it would have taken too long.  No biggie; it's not going to fall apart or anything.
Today is the last Saturday I have to work for the Summer.  But I'm going to start working 2-3 days a week from 5-11am.  I think its a fair trade off for not working Saturdays or nights.  I hate working at night.  Speaking of, I guess I should start getting ready for work today.  It's going to be a long day.  I hope nobody thinks I'm drunk.
