W I P Wedensday #7

Finished:
(and sold)
A set of owls!  I think they barely pass as owls.  They were supposed to be bookends, but they aren't that heavy and one likes to lie down more than stand up.

Started and Finished::
Here's skirt and leggings (not meant to go together) for Allyson

I cut up a t-shirt and made some jammie pants for Molly.  They are a little bit low-rise, but that's fine for jammies (I guess).

This is a cute little jumper for Molly.  It's corduroy and lined and has a zipper and pleats and everything!  I'm super impressed with myself on this one.

I was forced to make a bag for my quilt in progress.  Scott was sick of it just being thrown on the couch.  So now it's in a cute bag!

What!? That's so many things!  ...Oh, yeah, I skipped a week.

Still Going or Projects in Pergatory (or maybe Limbo):
Zelda Quilt
Scrppy Squares Quilt
One last set of owls

I haven't put these away, but they just aren't on the top of the list for now.  I'm doing a lot of clothes sewing for the girls so we can be ready for school days.  I'm wondering how homemade clothes will go over in Kindergarten...  maybe nobody will know!

Started:

This dress is SO close to being finished... it's just really hard to get Allyson to try things on for fit.  This might be the first day of Kindergarten dress.

This will be that shirt for Allyson.  Those are the last scraps of that material.  Not too bad:  I got two shirts and a skirt out of it and the two fabrics cost me a total of $4!

Ch Ch Ch Changin'

I feel the need to have a post here that isn't titled WIP, so here it is!  I'm pretty sure no sewing projects will creep they're way into this post.
Last Thursday Scott and I started talking about redoing the kitchen sometime soon.  Before we do that we would need to refinish the living room floor.  Before doing that we wanted to rip up the carpet in the bedroom so that we could redo the wood in that room at the same time.  So we talked a bit about it then ripped up the carpet in the bedroom.

So it turns out that the wood was crap.  We now have three different colors of fake wood floors in our house (shh, don't tell any one).  After taking all the furniture out we decided to rearrange the bedroom.  Some day when we grow up we will get real bedroom furniture... maybe even a headboard!

Sometime during all this redoing I went to the Zoo with Janae, the kids, and Evi.  Scott did the floors and I did the Zoo!

So, after changing up one room we had to do more:

The red velvet couch went into the toy room.  The desk lost it's legs and became a coffee table.  The glider ended up in our room.  All of this will continue to change.... forever and ever.

After all this, the kitchen got a new table cloth, thanks to my mom, and the two red retro chairs... I'm eventually going for a retro-esque theme in the kitchen to show off my mismatched Fiestaware collection that will continue to grow.   ...Maybe not retro; just lots of white so the bright colors POP! POP!

Because of all this I've realized I need new curtains (or other window coverings) in just about every room in the house... perhaps that's a sewing project for the future!

WIP Wednesday # 6

I'm too tired to explain too much so we'll have mostly pictures here:

Finished:

An Owl!  Miracle upon miracles... now I just need Janae's pictures of him so I can put him on Etsy... not that he'll sell but that's okay.

Still in Progress:

Everything else... I think I touched everything I'm working on at least once this week.

Two of these guys are going to be book ends and the other is 1/2 of a pair that will probably be book ends as well...

Proof that I really have been working on the Zelda quilt.

New:

Another part of Allyson's school wardrobe.  This is going to be a peasant shirt for her.

Wip #4

Finished:

Mystery project... a handmade chenille blanket.  I think it turned out super cute; maybe not super chenille-y looking, but I think that will improve with more washing and drying.  It's a gift for somebody, but I'm not saying who... it's a surprise!

Molly was in need of pajamas so I made her a night gown.  It looks more like a moomoo, but it's comfy and cute.  She likes it, despite her look of sadness in the picture
.

Still Going:

I've actually been working on the cross stitched Artichoke.  I'm not sure why, though.  I'm not going to do anything with it when I'm done.  I think I just feel the need to finish it since I started it.  If anybody wants these cross stitched veggies, let me know and they are yours... for FREE!

The Zelda Pool Table Cover is still going... I think I'm close to putting the top together... then comes the quilting. sigh

Needs Attention:

Scrappy quilt
Owls

New:

I think the only thing new this week was Molly's Jammies.  And they were also finished, so Yay!

Wip Wednesday #3

New This Week:

I actually started my Mystery project.  Not much to take pictures of there, so maybe if I finishe it this week there will be pictures to come.
also...
I'm a messy coffee drinker while at the computer.  Lots of coffee stains on the computer dest.  Problem solved:  Mug Rug.  If you don't know what a "mug rug" is, from what I've gathered from other crafty ladies, it's just a giant coaster.  So I made one for myself.
The underneath part

the top, and my coffee!

Still Working On:

Everything else!
Actually the only thing I worked on that wasn't new was the crazy quilt... just sittin' and quiltin'.  It's a slow process.

Finished This Week:

All I finished was the "mug rug."  But I am diligently (sp?) working on the other stuff too!

Wip Wednesday #2

Two weeks in a row!  Look at me with the follow through... anyway...
Technically I didn't really add or take away from last weeks list, but I sorta-kinda did.

New this week (but also finished this week):

Scott got me a Kindle for my birthday so I needed a cover.  I made this one really quick without really measuring or using any kind of pattern.  It's kinda cute, but it's more like a rough draft.  I will have to make a better one some time soon.

Almost a work in progress:

I saw a project on someone elses blog and I'm going to start it soon using these fabrics... I'm not saying what it is... Mystery!!

Still Working on:

I've made progress on the Zelda quilt, but it's not very exciting. I'll take a picture when the top is put together.

The scrappy quilt (aka Whackadoo... I need a better name for this) is coming along.  I made the back with random squares of scrapps and black strips.  This is the first quilt back I've made that isn't just solid; I kinda like it.  So, it's put together and I've started quilting it.  Now we wait the year or to it takes me to do this and we have a finished quilt!  Hopefully it won't really take that long... I don't plan on doing anything too fancy.

Untouched:

The sweater owls and cross stitched veggies will have to wait for another week...

WiP Wednesday #1

I'm stealing this from another blog I follow.  It means Works in progress and I'm hoping it will keep me focused on what I'm working on and not randomly starting things that won't get finished.  Also, here's hopoing I'll post this every Wednesday (it might turn into a monthly instead of weekly thing).  So anyway here goes:

I told Scott I was going to call this quilt Whakadoo... I don't know if that name will stick!  It's a bunch of scraps sewn together then cut up then sewn back together a billion times.  I had multiple plans for these scraps before I put them together in this quilt (which is almost put together).  The white parts are a full size sheet that I used part of for something else then used the rest for this.  I don't know how big this will be, maybe lap-size or maybe bigger if I decide to put a border or two around it.  We'll see

This is Scott's Zelda quilt/pool table cover.  We have finished heart containers, Link, and Zelda.  I still need to do the Triforce (don't ask, it's video game BS) which I've done twice now, but with crappy fabric so it looked crappy.  Hopefully that will get done soon and I can put this mess together.

Here is a cross stitched Artichoke I started maybe 8 years ago.  I feel the need to finish it but I don't know what to do with it when it's done.  If you want it, along with a cross stitched eggplant, let me know.

Sweater Owls!  There are 3 of them... These are on the list because I cut them out a while ago so I also feel the need to finish them.  I'm sure it will happen soon.

so to recap:
last weeks total: n/a
finished this week: 0
New this week: 0
This week's total: 6

... see you next week!
